At Blue Caboose, we’re all about helping families live with cystic fibrosis—not just survive it.

Founded in 2012 by Kelly Colbert and her son Jack, Blue Caboose Children’s Fund began with a simple, powerful goal: to support families facing the daily challenges of cystic fibrosis (CF). That mission lives on today under the leadership of Executive Director Kiri Roeseler, who took the reins in 2017.

We are a volunteer-run nonprofit led by parents and caregivers who know the CF journey firsthand. From managing treatments and hospital stays to balancing work, finances, and emotional strain, we understand how heavy this life can feel—and we believe no family should carry it alone.

Who We Serve

We support children living with CF and their families—because we know that CF affects everyone under the same roof. Whether you’re a parent, a sibling, a grandparent, or even a family who has lost a child to CF, you are part of our Blue Caboose family. And once you're part of this family, you're always welcome.

We currently serve the Dallas-Fort Worth area and hope to expand in the coming years.

What We Do

We offer both financial assistance and emotional support, with programming that lifts some of the burden and reminds families they’re not alone. Our current programs include:

• Back to School Support
  Backpacks filled with supplies for over 500 kids—both CF patients and their siblings.

• Holiday Help
  Gifts for each child in the family and a gift card for a holiday meal.

• Comfort Totes & Hospital Dinners
  When kids are admitted for treatment, we deliver fun, comforting totes and a warm dinner for the caregiver and patient.

• Birthday Cards
  Because every child deserves to be celebrated.

• Parent & Caregiver Dinners
  Monthly meetups with free food and real conversation—judgment-free, pressure-free.

• Family Hardship Grants
  Emergency financial help for essentials like rent, utilities, or transportation.

Whether we’re delivering a meal, mailing a birthday card, or simply showing up with a listening ear, our mission stays the same: to ease the financial burden of CF and wrap families in community and care.
